Rangers International FC got their groove back on track with a 2-1 victory against visiting Warri Wolves FC in their Week 24 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Friday Night clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
Obinna Nwobodo gave the home side an early lead in the 7th minute following good work from the duo of Chidiebere Okolie and Godwin Aguda, before the latter doubled Rangers’ lead six minutes to end the first half from the penalty spot after he was brought down.
Zinte Udeh pulled one goal back for Warri Wolves just before halftime capitalizing on Ghanaian goalkeeper Nana Bonsu’s error, and it turned out to be a consolation; as Rangers held on for a crucial win.
Rangers are now second on the table with 39 points from 22 matches, two points behind Wikki.
It was Rangers 11th win of the season, and the victory takes the Flying Antelopes to two points behind league leaders Wikki Tourists with 39 points in second place above Rivers United (38 points) while Warri Wolves stay in 12th spot with 30 points.
Giwa FC striker Ocheme Edoh made his debut for Rangers.
