Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have officially announced former Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Rode as their newest summer signing.
Rode arrives at Signal Iduna Park on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee - though the cost is believed to be in the region of £13m. The 25-year-old has passed a medical and becomes Dortmund's fourth summer signing after Mikel Merino, Ousmane Dembele and Marc Bartra.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said on Rode's arrival: "Sebastian Rode is a dynamic and combative player with a good temperament. These qualities will make him an immensely valuable player. We are happy to have won the race to sign him."
The player himself joined Bayern Munich on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2014, but failed to make the desired impression as he played only 399 minutes of football in the Bundesliga last season.
He said on the move: "I am a childhood BVB fan and therefore I'm really happy that the transfer to my favourite club worked out.
"Thomas Tuchel is a class trainer, and I already know some of my team-mates. They are top characters, athletic and extremely strong. I am looking forward to the new challenge and my first home game in black and yellow in the Signal Iduna Park."
