Tomas’ influence goes far beyond goals and assists. The play maker offers Arsenal’s midfield energy, match intelligence, superb vision and leadership. Since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in May 2006, Tomas has established himself as one of Europe’s most technically- gifted midfielder.
A popular figure around the club, Tomas further endeared himself to the club’s fans by scoring in two north London derbies during the 2013/14 season.
During six seasons in Dortmund, Tomas won the Bundesliga title and reached the final of the UEFA Cup. Previously he had enjoyed success with Sparta Prague in his hometown, where he won back to back league titles in 1999 and 2000.
Tomas – who was named Czech Footballer of the Year in 2001, 2002 and 2006 – made his international debut in 2000 and brought up his 100th international appearance in a European Championship qualifier against Iceland in June 2015. He regularly captains the national side.
On 23rd May 2006, Arsenal confirmed that they had signed then 25-year-old Rosický on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.He made his competitive debut for Arsenal on 8th August 2006 in a 3–0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in a Champions League qualifier.
He has made more than 200 appearances for Arsenal, and scored his first goal for Arsenal ( a long-range screamer in a Champions League victory at Hamburg soon after arriving in north London) on 13th September 2006 against Hamburg in Arsenal's first Champions League game of the season, which Arsenal won 2–1.
