A and B Soccer Academy wins Inaugural Brown Ideye challenge competiton

The final was played between A&B Soccer Academy and Garden City Panthers.  A minute silence was observed before Kickoff for a great Sports man Mohammad Ali who died in the early hours of yesterday. And also the sponsor off the competition Brown Ideye performed the Ceremonial Kickoff.

Garden City Panthers took the lead in the first half but A&B Soccer Academy equalized after the Garden City Goalkeeper spilled an initial shot. 

In the 80th minute A&B Soccer Academy was awarded a penalty which was expertly converted to send fans go wild with jubilation.

The sponsor Brown Ideye later handed over price and financial gifts to the well deserved winner which saw the MVP(most valuable player), Best goalkeeper of the competition, Highest goal scorer and best defender go home with a personal trophy and cash price of 20 thousand Naira.

Also the Winner of the competition A&B Soccer Academy carted away the beautiful trophy and a cash price of 300 thousand Naira, while the runners up Garden City Panthers pocketed 200 thousand Naira and the third place team Garden City Academy who defeated SKE Academy Football 1:0 took home 150 thousand Naira.

Speaking to Soccer120.com after the match, the sponsor of the competition said;

 "I am happy with the talents discovered during the competition. I have had this idea in my heart for long. to give back to the society with the aim of discovering future Super Eagles players who will go a long way to make Nigeria proud in the nearest future. I am calling on other people and government to do likewise or partner with me to discover enormous talents that are scattered around Nigeria"

Ideye reveals he will miss Yobo Testimonial after Eagles recall

Nigeria striker Brown Ideye has said he would have wished to feature in Friday’s Joseph Yobo Testimonial, but for the fact he has also been recalled by the Super Eagles for friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg.  

The Mali match will be played on the same day in France.  The Olympiacos hit man said it would have been a great personal honour to be part of the Yobo Testimonial.

"I was like let me come home with my family play the game then go to the United States of America for holidays with my family, but I got called up.”  

He added: “I was really looking forward to the game, to play for him because I played under him and he is a very good guy and it would have been a great honour to support him."  Yobo became the first Nigerian to win 100 caps when he captained the Super Eagles in a 2014 World Cup game against France.   

The Nigeria Football Federation have, however, released Eagles captain Mikel Obi and his assistant, Ahmed Musa, for the testimonial.

BROWN IDEYE CHALLENGE: GROUP D TAGGED GROUP OF DEATH

Chief Executive Officer of SKE Football Academy, Kingsley Olisa described Group D as the group of death in the Brown Ideye challenge which kicks off on Wednesday.

“We are prepared and as soon as we get the full fixtures on Wednesday, you’ll see a better team from us.

“I also believe that Group D is the Group of death, from Benedi United to Port Harcourt City to Glodek to McJEf, it’s a tough one,” Olisa said.
He also described his group that has Jike FC, Port Harcourt City Panthers, Rivers United Academy and Fountain FC as tough nuts to crack.

“We just need ten points from that group and we will be good,” the CEO said.
He also urged other foreign based Nigerian footballers to create avenues for the youth to be busy.

Olisa says he believes it will be a credible tournament that starts tomorrow in Port Harcourt.
“If other international players can organize credible tournaments like this then things will be better.

“I believe this will be credible because I have seen the caliber of people organizing it. It is a good one for grassroots football in Rivers State,” Olisa said.
He described group D as the toughest in the competition.

Brown Ideye challenges starts today

Port Harcourt  is set to host The 1st edition of the Brown Ideye Challenge whick kick off today.  

 Olympiakos striker, Brown Ideye, has decided to keep the youth of Port Harcourt and its environs busy by putting his resources to sponsor the one month fiesta.  

“It’s something I have planned to do for some time and I believe the youth of Port Harcourt will greatly benefit from this chance to showcase their talent to the world,” Ideye said.  

“A lot of people want to play football but do not get the chance to do it at any level whatsoever, so I believe this will be one opportunity for them to shine.”  Secretary of the Local Organising Committee of the event, Sanipe Damiete Tonte revealed that after discussing with Ideye, the tournament will kickoff today with the opening match between Rumuowha FC and Awoba FC. 

Opening formalities commences at 3pm while the Kickoff proper is by 4pm.  Nigeria Premier league legend, Victor Ezeji will be on hand for the Kickoff.  

Speaking to soccer80.com Sanipe Damiete Tonte  said “We have been planning this tournament since December last year and we always had it in mind that it will hold at this time.  

“We propose that the event kicks off on Wednesday, May 2 with the final match before the end of the month of May with Brown Ideye himself present on the day,” 

Damiete said.  “Already we have received a lot of messages and calls from Football Clubs in Port Harcourt on their intention to be part of it so we know there will be a rush to pick up forms.
