Supporters of MFM FC of Lagos allegedly pounced on the centre referee of the game between the club and Shooting Stars of Ibadan at the Agege stadium, Lagos.
The Oluyole Warriors defeated the hosts 1 – 0 in an epic showdown of the Nigerian Premier Football League. Ebitmi Agogu scored a well-deserved goal in the 83rd minute to silence the Agege fans, as Shooting Stars claimed all three points of the fixture.
The game was suspended for a couple of minutes as fans had a filled day throwing missiles at the match officials. There were claims that the host who were yet to lose at home this season succumbed to the Ibadan Boys in a controversial manner.

It took the intervention of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, and security men to save the centre referee, O. J. Alaba, from Ogun State and other officiating officials from the enraged fans.
Recall that Giwa FC who have been expelled from the league were banished to Ilorin for similar offence when they played Enugu Rangers.
It would be recalled that Giwa FC’s week 13 game against Rangers in Jos was called off towards the end of the match due to the hosts’ fans unruly attitude. The LMC then ordered that the match should continue in Abuja from the minute it was stopped in Jos, but Giwa FC refused to show up for the game and three points and three goals was awarded to Enugu Rangers.
Giwa was later thrown out of the league for failing to show up for three consecutive games. With the latest MFM debacle, the LMC is expected to make an announcement.
