Zlatan Ibrahimovic has come out and said that he will be the ‘God of Manchester’ in response to Eric Cantona, who welcomed the former Sweden striker to the Red Devils.
Cantona, who was known as the ‘King’ when he played for United between 1992 and 1997, said Ibrahimovic can become the ‘Prince’ of Old Trafford after he signed on a free transfer earlier this month.
The 34-year-old Ibrahimovic though responded like only he can when he spoke to the press.
Ibrahimovic is quoted as saying in Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet: “I admire Cantona and I heard what he said.
“But I won’t be King of Manchester. I will be God of Manchester.”
Ibrahimovic, who retired from international football after the recent European Championships, has had a successful club career winning league titles in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France.
