Arsenal Ladies got their FA WSL campaign off to an impressive start with a 3-1 win over Reading Women at Meadow Park.
The Gunners had invested heavily in their squad over the summer and Pedro Martinez Losa named Asisat Oshoala at the tip of an attack including Marta Corredera and Danielle Carter, with England international Fara Williams left on the bench.
The hosts had much the better of the first half but were kept waiting until the 34th minute to claim the opener, when Dominique Janssen struck from outside the box.

Their lead was doubled soon after half-time as former Liverpool striker Oshoala struck on her debut, though that prompted a rally from Reading that saw Jade Boho Sayo bring the scoreline back to 2-1 just before the hour.
Carter calmed any worries in the Arsenal side 11 minutes later, heading home to secure a comfortable win for the Gunners.
It was a magnificent debut for Oshoala and a great victory for Pedro Martinez Losa’s side as they now sit atop the WSL with three points and two goals.
