FULL WEEK 29 NPFL MATCH REVIEW : FC IFEANYI UBAH VS KANO PILLARS ( Kano Pillars won 2-0 in the First meeting )

The Easterners come into this game on the back of a well earned one point in their goalless draw against Heartland FC of Owerri. They won their last home game 1-0 in Nnewi thanks to a header from one of their Brazilian imports--Alberico Da Silva. Unfortunately Alberico Da Silva will be missing this game due to a knock. Also Elu Wilson will sit out of the game due to Malaria.

Coach Rafael Everton would also want his team to build on their qualification for the semi finals of the Federation Cup following their victory over Sunshine Stars. Kano Pillars come into this game on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win over MFM FC at the Sanni Abacha Stadium.

The 'Sai Maisu Gida' as they're popularly known will be confident of getting a point here as Gambo Mohammed will seek to add to his goal tally. It should be a fascinating game with a share of the spoils on the cards here.


Can FC Ifeanyiubah pick up a second win against Kano Pillars since 2005. Time will tell.

Enyimba Edge Pillars To Keep Hope Of Retaining NPFL Title

Champions Enyimba on Sunday defeated Kano Pillars FC 2-1, in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match-day 27 clash at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, edging closer to retaining the league title.

The Peoples’ Elephant scored first through Ifeanyi Anaemena 10 minutes into the match, and with less than one minute, Adamu Mohammed fired former champions Pillars equalizer in the 11th minute, as the game ended 1-1 at half-time.

Deep into the second half, Enyimba’s Chukwude was felled in the box, and Uche John converted the penalty in the 73rd minute to end the game 2-1 in favour of the CAF Champions League campaigners.

With the 2-1 result, Enyimba now limped above Kano Pillars from fifth to fourth position on the log with 40 points from 24 rounds of matches in the current season.

Kano Pillars signs eight players and also sacks eight players

Kano Pillars have signed 8 players to beef up the team as the NPFL gets to the business end of the season. The eight players include four from recently expelled Giwa FC namely Charles Henlong, Amos Gyang, Chris Madaki and goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo. 

Others are Razaq Adegbite from Sunshine Stars, King Osanga from Warri Wolves as well as central defender Emman Ambrose from Kaduna United.

Kano Pillars also showed eight players the exit doors.

Ifeanyi Matthew goal can't rescue Kano Pillars

Ifeanyi Matthew’s super strike was not enough for Kano Pillars to  beat hosts Niger Tornadoes, who fought back to win 2-1 in continuation of the Nigeria league on Thursday.

Super Eagles midfielder Matthew fired home in the 18th minute from 28 yards to give Pillars the lead. However, Tornadoes then drew level through Adebayo Abiodun in the 40th minute when he hit target from close range.

Bolaji Adeyemo then grabbed the winning goal for Tornadoes in the 47th minute off a goalmouth melee.

Thereafter, Tornadoes took control especially with the introduction of Joseph David, who was making his professional debut for the Minna side as they had upperhand on several occasions to score the third goal, but they were very wasteful, with the main culprit being Ismaila Gata, the leading goalscorer of the club with nine goals this season.

The introduction of Prince Aggreh, Omo Johnson and Mannir Ubale by Kano Pillars coach, Mohammed Baba Ganaru, did not yield any positive result as Niger Tornadoes got the three points at the expense of their more illustrious opponents.

Speaking to the www.npfl.ng after the game, Biffo said that it was a wonderful game to get the maximum points against Kano Pillars, noting that his boys gave Pillars too much respect in the frist half and he was very glad that they responded to his tactical formation in the second half that brought about the desired victory.

"I think I really have to commend my boys for winning the game. They gave Kano Pillars too much respect in the first half, but I am glad that everything turned around for our good in the second half," Biffo said.

Baba Ganaru, who was of the firm opinion that Pillars had no business losing the game, as he insisted that his boys were in control of the game especially in the first half, but played to the gallery, instead of killing off their opponents.

"We had the game under our control. We had no business losing this encounter against Tornadoes. I am not happy at all with my players as they played to the gallery in the first half and we paid for dearly for it," Baba Ganaru said with a sad tone.

Pillars will be heading to Jos for their Match Day 19 game against Plateau United, while Niger Tornadoes will be guests of FC Ifeanyiubah at Nnewi this weekend.
