South American side Colombia defeated Nigeria’s U-23 team 2-0 in their Group B final game of the Rio 2016 Olympics men’s football event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Colombia took the lead as early as the 4th minute through striker Teofilo Gutierrez before making sure of the points with a second half penalty from Dorlan Pabon to hand Nigeria their first defeat of the tournament.
Despite the defeat, Nigeria still finish top with six points from three games ahead of Colombia (5 points), Japan (4 points) and Sweden (2 points). Nigeria will meet the runners-up from Group A for a spot in the semi-finals.
