Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti says the German club have no interest in letting Robert Lewandowski sign for Champions League rivals Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old had reportedly shown an interest in a potential move prior to the Euro 2016, having spent the past six years in Germany’s top flight, with Los Blancos thought to be a possible destination.
But with pre-season now underway, Bayern boss Ancelotti has echoed the earlier words of Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge by underlining the Polish international’s value to the club, adding that Madrid have enough firepower in their ranks already.
“Lewandowski will stay here because he’s one of the best attackers in the world. It’s as simple as that,” the Italian told Bild.
“They have a lot of fantastic players, for instance Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo,” he said. “Real don’t need Lewandowski on top and, even if they did, Bayern won’t sell Lewandowski. Why should we voluntarily give away one of the best attackers in the world?”
Former Madrid manager Ancelotti also denied that his current club would like to bring Alvaro Morata to the Bundesliga, the striker having returned to Real Madrid from Juventus.
“The only truth in those rumours is that Morata [was] my discovery at Real and that he’s a very good player,” he added. “But I’d never swap Lewandowski with any other player in the world.”
