Ikechukwu Ezenwa has terminated his contract with Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Sunshine Stars.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper, has dumped the Akure club, after they failed to pay his salaries for three months.
Ezenwa who was in goal for the Super Eagles during the 2016 Championship of African Nations in Rwanda revealed his frustration over the poor state of the Sunshine’s finances, saying owing him three months salary arrears is something he can no longer stomach
The former Ocean Boys of Brass, Heartland and Sharks goalkeeper has handed in a transfer request to the management of Sunshine Stars as a mid- season transfer to big spending Ifeanyi Ubah FC looms.
“It’s no longer news. I’ve told them I’m leaving and I’ve written to them officially as well as the League Management Company,” Ezenwa exclusively told Complete Sports.
Ezenwa has notified the League Management Company (LMC), of his decision to quit Sunshine Stars, in line with the rules and regulations of the league.
The LMC has asked the club to explain their side of the story on or before Monday.
Ezenwa was the only player from the domestic league, that was invited for the friendly matches against Mali and Luxembourg and was reportedly earning N450,000 per month.
