Chisom Chikatara may remain with Abia Warriors
Abia Warriors striker Chisom Chikatara’s move to Wydad Casablanca is on the verge of collapse after the Moroccan club failed to pay the player’s transfer fee
The 21-year-old Chikatara agreed a deal with Wydad shortly after the CHAN tournament in Rwanda earlier in the year, and he had been expected to complete the move next month.
But the deal is now on hold and on the verge of collapse, as the Moroccans are yet to meet their financial obligations to Abia Warriors, according to club chairman Emeka Inyama.
“Chisom Chikatara’s deal with Wydad Casablanca is on hold because the club have failed to meet up with their financial obligations,” Inyama said.
“We are a very serious club and we don’t do things haphazardly, so that is the reason (why Chikatara isn’t moving there yet).”
Chikatara attracted interests from several clubs following his superlative displays for Nigeria in Rwanda, and agreed a deal with Wydad shortly afterwards, but the deal now seems to be on the verge of collapsing.
