Shinji Okazaki scores a breath taking goal |
Leicester City restored their five-point lead over Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 home win over Newcastle on Monday night.
Shinji Okazaki scored the winner for the Foxes at the King Power Stadium with a stunning acrobatic volley on 25 minutes to beat Rob Elliot. The Japanese striker was on the receiving end of a Riyad Mahrez’s free-kick laid back into play by Jamie Vardy at the far post.
City have 63 points, five ahead of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur, 11 in front of third-placed Arsenal and 12 ahead of Manchester City who both have a game in hand.
It was Benitez first game in charge of Newcastle after he succeeded Steve McClaren on Friday,

The Algeria international could have broken the deadlock in the 18th minute with a 25-yard left-footed curled effort, while Claudio Ranieri’s men failed to convert another couple of good chances and double their lead.
However, Leicester earned all three points at the final whistle to strengthen their title bid with eight more matches to go.
The Foxes and Riyad Mahrez will travel to Crystal Palace in their next outing on Saturday 19 March.
