Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has revealed his “passion” often sees him argue with Arsene Wenger over his game time.
Wenger was heavily criticised over his continued use of Alexis earlier in the season after the forward picked up a hamstring injury which sidelined him for almost two months.
Alexis had spent the whole summer with Chile as they won the Copa America, but such is the player’s desire to play Wenger has found it hard to leave him out.
Alexis told the Arsenal website: “I do always want to play, so that’s right. It’s because football is my passion, it’s my life.
“Sometimes the manager says to me that I should have a rest, but I say ‘I do not want to rest.’
“I’d rather go home and use the gym in my house to exercise in order to maintain my form.
“I always wanted to be a football player. I was born to play football and, God willing, I will be able to continue doing that.
“Since I was a child I have always been annoyed when we didn’t win. That feeling made me train more, so that the next day I could go out and win again.
“I think [my passion] started in Tocopilla because I always used to play with older people. I always wanted to be a footballer, I always wanted to play. I was born to be a footballer.”
