Roy Hodgson : Beating Germany is one of my greatest achievement

Roy Hodgson has put the memorable 3-2 win against Germany in amongst his top achievements during his four-year reign as England manager.

Germany seemed to be cruising toward victory when Toni Kroos and Mario Gomez gave the hosts a handsome lead in Berlin, but Harry Kane sparked a wonderful 30-minute spell for the Three Lions with Jamie Vardy and Eric Dier completing a superb comeback.
Hodgson also felt England were unlucky to fall behind and praised his side – with an average of 24 – for their heroic efforts ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against the Netherlands at Wembley.
“It must be close – you don’t beat Germany every day,” he told ITV. “It was a good follow up to our performance against France, we carried on where we left off.
“At half-time I thought it was very unjust that we came in at 1-0 down, our keeper was injured and that really hampered him trying to save the long shot from Kroos. At 2-0 down I thought it was even more unfair.
“We were creating the better chances and to come back and score three goals was fantastic. The players must take great credit.”
Tottenham striker Kane got England back on track with a wonderful turn and cool finish, and he admitted that the goal may have been a shade reminiscent of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, who passed away on Thursday after a cancer battle.
He was quick to add, though, that nobody should get carried away with the result with Euro 2016 on the horizon.
“Was it a dedication to Cruyff?” ponder Kane. “Maybe! We played brilliant today, had a lot of chances, we could have scored more. We never gave in. What a night.
“Everyone needs to stay calm. It is a friendly, but it is a great night for England and shows what a team we are.
“We have to keep coming back, keep doing what we’re doing, we have another important game on Tuesday against the Netherlands and go from there.”
