NPFL clubs want Maikaba
Several top clubs are already jostling for coach of Nigeria league leaders Wikki Tourists Abdu Maikaba come next season, AfricanFootball.com can exclusively report.
“Maikaba is the most sought after coach in the Nigeria league and this is most likely his last season at Wikki as several top clubs have contacted him for next season,” a source informed AfricanFootball.com
“One of the country’s biggest clubs have already discussed personal terms with him for the coming season.”
Physics graduate Maikaba has for the past two seasons guided Wikki to the top ranks of the league despite operating a shoe-string budget.
This season Wikki boast the best attack as well as meanest defence in the league and have been top of the standings since the tail-end of the first round of the championship.
He has been appointed along with Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo to assist Nigeria caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf to lead a Nigeria league All-Stars to a series of friendlies against La Liga clubs Valencia and Malaga in Spain next month.
‘Audu Soccer’ has already handled the country’s biggest two clubs, Enyimba and Kano Pillars.
This year he was sounded out by NFF officials to lead the Nigeria Golden Eaglets and he is now in serious reckoning for a place in the Super Eagles backroom staff.
