Super Falcons captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku has joined Nigerian teammate, Desire Oparanozie at French Division 1 Féminine side, En Avant de Guingamp Ladies on a two-year contract from Swedish side, Östersunds DFF, the club announced on its website.
The club is desirous of building a strong team that would compete for the title with the likes of Paris Saint Germain, Olympique Lyon and other contenders ahead of next season. According to statement on the club’s website, Nwabuoku’s arrival in the Côtes-D’Armor confirms the ambition of EA Guingamp to have a successful women’s team next season.
Nwabuoku also joined another Super Falcons player Ngozi Ebere, who plays for PSG Ladies in France. The 30-year-old midfielder has 42 caps for Nigeria, she captained the Nigeria women’s national football team at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the led to the team to win the 2014 African Women’s Championship in Namibia. She was also part of the squad at the 2012 African Women’s Championship.
