Yusuf: Super Eagles Must Beat Luxembourg
Super Eagles interim coach, Salisu Yusuf, says the side is firmly focused on securing a win in Tuesday’s friendly against Luxembourg.
The three-time African champions beat fellow West Africans Mali 1-0 in their first friendly in Rouen, France on Friday.
Tuesday’s match, billed for the Stade Jozy Barthez, Luxembourg, is the first meeting Nigeria and the hosts at any level.
Former Enyimba coach Yusuf told Completesportsnigeria.com that the Eagles are looking forward to build on the win against Mali when they take on the Europeans.
“We want another positive outing against Luxembourg after the win against Mali,” Yusuf told
“The game is important for our rebuilding process and it’s important to come out with a good result as that will help boost the morale of the team ahead of subsequent games.
“We are all in high spirits and hopefully we will have another win in the bag after the game on Tuesday.”
The Super Eagles who are out of contention for a place in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Gabon are using the game to prepare for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
